Typical use Of Dicyclomine :To Treat Periodic Spasm And Pain In Abdomen, Stomach And Intestinal Cramps, Functional Bowel Or Irritable Bowel Syndrome And Urinary Incontinence.
Mechanism of action of Dicyclomine :Dicyclomine Acts By Relieving The Smooth Muscle Contraction Of The Gastrointestinal Tract Via Dual Action: (i) By A Specific Action (anticholinergic), Which Reduces Muscle Contractions And (ii) By A Direct Effect Upon Smooth Muscle Of The Stomach And Intestine (musculotropic) Leading To Muscle Relaxations, And Decrease In Contraction And Pain.
Drug Interaction of Dicyclomine :Inhibits Effects Of Glaucoma Therapy, May Increase Certain Actions Or Side Effects Of Anticholinergic Drugs (atropine, Glycopyrrolate, Scopolamine), Antiarrhythmic Agents (disopyramide, Quinidine), Antihistamines (chlorpheniramine, Levocetirizine), Antipsychotic Agents (phenothiazines), Certain Drugs Used To Treat Parkinson's Disease (benztropine, Trihexyphenidyl, Isocarboxazid, Linezolid, Methylene Blue, Moclobemide, Phenelzine, Procarbazine, Rasagiline, Selegiline, Tranylcypromine), Drugs For Sleep Or Anxiety (alprazolam, Diazepam, Zolpidem), Narcotic Analgesics (meperidine), Tricyclic Antidepressants (amitriptyline), Nitrates And Nitrites.
