Typical use Of Disopyramide :Arrhythmias Following Surgical Procedures, Conversion Of Atrial Fibrillation, Digitalis Induced Arrythmias, Duodenal Ulceration, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, Supraventricular Tachycardia.
Mechanism of action of Disopyramide :Disopyramide Is A Type 1A Antiarrhythmic Drug (ie, Similar To Procainamide And Quinidine). It Inhibits The Fast Sodium Channels. Disopyramide Decreases The Rate Of Diastolic Depolarization (phase 4) In Cells With Augmented Automaticity, Decreases The Upstroke Velocity (phase 0) And Increases The Action Potential Duration Of Normal Cardiac Cells, Decreases The Disparity In Refractoriness Between Infarcted And Adjacent Normally Perfused Myocardium, And Has No Effect On Alpha- Or Beta-adrenergic Receptors.
Drug Interaction of Disopyramide :Disopyramide Is Known To Interact With Other Drugs Like Amiodarone (HCl), Amitriptyline (HCl), Artemisinin, Atenolol, Clarithromycin, Digoxin, Diltiazem (HCl), Erythromycin, Flecainide (Acetate), Halofantrine (HCl), Homatropine (HBr), Human Insulin, Insulin Glulisine, Insulin Lispro, Isoetharine, Isosorbide (Dinitrate).
