Typical use Of Sulfamethoxazole :Bacterial Infections, Lymphogranuloma Venereum, Respiratory Tract Infections, Urinary Tract Infection.
Mechanism of action of Sulfamethoxazole :Sulfonamides Inhibit The Enzymatic Conversion Of Pteridine And P-aminobenzoic Acid (PABA) To Dihydropteroic Acid By Competing With PABA For Binding To Dihydrofolate Synthetase, An Intermediate Of Tetrahydrofolic Acid (THF) Synthesis. THF Is Required For The Synthesis Of Purines And DTMP And Inhibition Of Its Synthesis Inhibits Bacterial Growth.
Drug Interaction of Sulfamethoxazole :Sulphamethoxazole Is Known To Interact With Other Drugs Like Clozapine, Co-trimoxazole, Fluconazole, Lamivudine, Norgestimate, Para Aminobenzoic Acid, Phenytoin (Na), Prilocaine, Procaine, Trimethoprim, Warfarin (Na). Always Consult Your Physician For The Change Of Dose Regimen Or An Alternative Drug Of Choice That May Strictly Be Required.
