Typical use Of Metolazone :Congestive Heart Failure, Edema, Hepatic Disease, Hypertension, Oedema, Renal Failure.
Mechanism of action of Metolazone :Metolazone Acts Primarily To Inhibit Sodium Reabsorption At The Cortical Diluting Site And To A Lesser Extent In The Proximal Convoluted Tubule. Sodium And Chloride Ions Are Excreted In Approximately Equivalent Amounts. The Increased Delivery Of Sodium To The Distal Tubular Exchange Site Results In Increased Potassium Excretion. Metolazone Does Not Inhibit Carbonic Anhydrase.
Drug Interaction of Metolazone :Metolazone Is Known To Interact With Other Drugs Like Bumetanide, Captopril, Cyclosporin A, Frusemide Or Furosemide. Always Consult Your Physician For The Change Of Dose Regimen Or An Alternative Drug Of Choice That May Strictly Be Required.
Side effects of Metolazone :Hypokalemia, Hyperglycemia, Headache, Constipation, Rashes, Vertigo, Muscle Cramps, Nocturia.
