Mechanism of action of Levothyroxine :Levothyroxine Sodium Increases The Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) Of Carbohydrates, Fats And Proteins. It Is Also Involved In The Regulation And Differentiation Of Cell Growth. These Effects Are Mediated At The Cellular Level By The Thyroxine Metabolite, Tri-iodothyronine.
Drug Interaction of Levothyroxine :Before Using This Medication, Tell Your Doctor Or Pharmacist Of All Prescription And Nonprescription/herbal Products You May Use, Especially Of: Drugs That Increase Prolactin Levels (e.g.,metoclopramide, Methyldopa, Phenothiazines Such As Prochlorperazine, Antipsychotic Medications Such As Haloperidol/olanzapine).This Document Does Not Contain All Possible Interactions.
Side effects of Levothyroxine :Sinus Tachycardia, Diarrhoea, Tachycardia, Cardiac Arrhythmias, Insomnia, Weight Loss, Agitation, Tremors, Heat Intolerance.

How Levothyroxine will impact during lactation(breastfeeding) ?

Possibly Unsafe: Evidence From Studies In Breastfeeding Women Show That There Is A Definite Risk Of Side Effects To The Breastfed Infants. However, Use Of The Drug In Breastfeeding Women Is Acceptable In Spite Of The Risk To The Infants, If The Drug Is Needed In A Life-threatening Situation Or For A Serious Disease For Which Safer Drugs Cannot Be Used Or Are Ineffective.
