Mechanism of action of Lamivudine :Lamivudine Is A Synthetic Nucleoside Analogue And Is Phosphorylated Intracellularly To Its Active 5'-triphosphate Metabolite, Lamivudine Triphosphate (L-TP). This Nucleoside Analogue Is Incorporated Into Viral DNA By HIV Reverse Transcriptase And HBV Polymerase, Resulting In DNA Chain Termination.
Drug Interaction of Lamivudine :Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim) Increases The Concentration Of Lamivudine In The Body.
Side effects of Lamivudine :The Symptomatic Adverse Reactions Produced By Lamivudine Are More Or Less Tolerable And If They Become Severe, They Can Be Treated Symptomatically, These Include Headache, Fatigue, Diarrhea, Abdominal Pain, Malaise, Nausea And Vomiting, Respiratory Tract Infections, Abdominal Discomfort.
