Mechanism of action of Colecalciferol :The Active Form Of Cholecalciferol Increases The Serum Calcium Concentrations By: Increasing GI Absorption Of Phosphorus And Calcium, Increasing Osteoclastic Resorption, And Increasing Distal Renal Tubular Reabsorption Of Calcium. Cholecalciferol Appears To Promote Intestinal Absorption Of Calcium Through Binding To The Vitamin D Receptor In The Mucosal Cytoplasm Of The Intestine. Subsequently, Calcium Is Absorbed Through Formation Of A Calcium-binding Protein.
Drug Interaction of Colecalciferol :Cholecalciferol Is Known To Interact With Other Drugs Like Colestipol (HCl), Phenytoin (Na), Rifampicin. Always Consult Your Physician For The Change Of Dose Regimen Or An Alternative Drug Of Choice That May Strictly Be Required.
